Consultation on gender equality
On 4 October 2005, the deputy minister for women and equality launched a consultation document, Advancing equality for men and women1. The Equality Bill is the legislative vehicle being used by the government to introduce a "general" gender duty, which will require public authorities to have due regard for the need to eliminate discrimination and promote equality between men and women.
