Councils agree deal on equal pay and diversity
Local government employers have agreed to have
in place by 31
March 2007 pay and grading structures that
will deliver equal pay for women, as part of the three-year pay deal agreed
between local government employers and trades unions.
Equal pay was at the heart of the 1997
single-status agreement between employers and unions, but few authorities have
implemented equal pay reviews.
