Czech Republic: Pay deal follows strike at Skoda Auto

On 18 April 2007, management and trade unions at Skoda Auto reached a 21-month pay agreement that will result in average pay increases of 12.7% for the car manufacturer’s 27,000 employees. On the previous day, workers on all shifts at the company’s three plants had held short strikes, resulting in the loss of about one-third of normal production.
