Default retirement age abolished

The default retirement age of 65 will soon be confined to history following the making of Regulations implementing the Government's decision to scrap it entirely. The Regulations took effect on 6 April 2011 but the default retirement age will not finally disappear until 5 October 2012 under the transitional arrangements set out in the legislation.
