    In the final year of a two-year deal, an estimated 30,000 operatives covered by the Demolition Industry Conciliation Board (DICB) national agreement received a 5.5% increase in basic pay rates from 20 July 2006. The settlement was negotiated between the employers' organisation, the National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC), and the Transport and General Workers' Union, the GMB and the Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians.
