Denmark: Reformed job centres criticised

A system of job centres and public employment services that started operation on 1 January 2007 has received widespread criticism for failing to meet increased demand for labour from employers.

Under the recent reform, the public employment service and the municipal authorities’ employment offices, which were responsible for unemployed people not covered by the unemployment insurance system, have been merged into new joint job centres (EER 395 p.4).
