    The third and final stage of a three-year pay and conditions agreement covering an estimated 50,000 electricians, technicians and labouring workers in the electrical contracting industry in England, Wales and Northern Ireland came into force on 5 January 2004. Under the terms of the agreement, basic minimum rates were increased by 7.1%, except in London, where they were improved by 8.2%.
