Electrical contracting industry rise of 4.5%

The second stage of a three-year pay and conditions agreement, covering an estimated 50,000 approved electricians, technicians and labouring workers in the electrical contracting industry in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, has yielded a 4.5% increase in minimum industry rates. The deal, agreed between the Electrical Contractors' Association and the Amicus trade union - the two parties comprising the Joint Industry Board for the Electrical Contracting Industry, commonly known as the JIB - is effective from 9 January 2006.
