Enforcement: HSC strengthens investigation and prosecution policy

The HSC's long-awaited statement on its revised enforcement policy has confirmed that a work-related death will normally result in a prosecution, and that enforcement officers will look to bring directors and senior managers to account wherever appropriate.

The statement sets out, for the first time, specific criteria to help enforcement officers - from local authorities and the HSE - decide when to investigate health and safety incidents and when to prosecute.
