EU: Commission calls for "new skills for new jobs"

The European Commission has published an assessment of the EU’s skills and jobs requirements up to 2020, and proposed a series of measure to help anticipate and match these needs.

The Commission’s initiative, taken in response to a request made by the European Council in March 2008, was presented on 16 December 2008 in a Communication (COM(2008)868/3) entitled New skills for new jobs: anticipating and matching labour market and skills needs (on the European Commission website).
