EU Commission: Common principles proposed on active labour market inclusion
On 3 October 2008, the European Commission proposed a set of common EU-wide principles on the active inclusion of people excluded from the labour market, including recommendations on promoting higher-quality jobs and investing in training.
According to European Commission data, 16% of people in the EU are “at risk of poverty” (that is, they live in households where the total income is below 60% of the national median income), a rate that rises to 19% among children.
