EU: Commission develops skills and competences classification

The European Commission invited employers and other interested parties to contribute to a multilingual Europe-wide classification of skills, competences and occupations in August 2010.

The Commission is developing the European Skills, Competences and Occupations "taxonomy" (ESCO) as part of the EU's "new skills for new jobs" initiative, which seeks to foster skills development and employability.
