EU Commission: First EGF funding applications approved
On 25 June 2007, the European Commission announced that it had approved the first two applications for money to help redundant workers from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
The EGF was set up in December 2006 to provide assistance to workers affected by redundancies resulting from economic globalisation, helping them reintegrate into the labour market through measures such as training and help in finding a new job.
