EU commission: Further action proposed on management of restructuring
The European Commission has proposed a series of new or reinforced measures to promote the "socially responsible" management of the employment effects of economic and corporate restructuring, including the possible establishment of sectoral employment and qualifications councils at EU level.
The socially responsible management of restructuring has been a major preoccupation of the European Commission since 1998 and the publication of the report of the "Gyllenhammar" high-level group on the economic and social implications of industrial change.
