EU: Commission issues guidance on directors' pay

The European Commission issued a Recommendation in April 2009 on the structure and determination of directors' remuneration, calling on EU member states to ensure that companies have an appropriate remuneration policy that rewards performance and promotes firms' longer-term interests.

In December 2004, the Commission adopted a Recommendation on "fostering an appropriate regime for the remuneration of directors of listed companies".
