EU Commission: Member states accused of failing to implement equal treatment Directive

On 31 January 2008, the European Commission sent formal requests to 11 EU member states, asking them to implement fully the 2000 Directive on equal treatment in employment and occupation, which prohibits discrimination on the grounds of religion and belief, age, disability and sexual orientation.

Directive 2000/78/EC was adopted in November 2000.
