EU: Commission proposes more help for redundant workers

The European Commission has proposed changes to the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to provide greater support for workers made redundant as a result of the economic crisis.

The EGF was established in December 2006 (by Regulation 1927/2006/EC) with an annual budget of €500 million in order to assist workers affected by redundancies resulting from economic globalisation.
