EU: Commission proposes new employment guidelines
The European Commission proposed on 27 April 2010 a set of revised guidelines for EU member states' employment policies, aimed notably at increasing labour market participation and developing a skilled workforce responding to labour market needs.
The EU member states have agreed a new jobs and growth strategy, entitled Europe 2020, to replace the Lisbon strategy that ran from 2000 to 2010.
