EU: Commission proposes "shared commitment for employment"

In a Communication issued on 3 June 2009, the European Commission called on national governments, the social partners and the EU institutions to make a "shared commitment for employment" by adopting a range of measures aimed at saving and creating jobs across the EU.

The Communication (COM [2009] 257 final) seeks largely to follow up and implement the messages adopted at the EU "employment summit" held in May 2009.
