EU Commission: Review of ECS employee involvement Directive postponed

The European Commission announced in September 2008 that an overdue review of the Directive on employee involvement accompanying the European Company Statute (ECS) has been postponed until late 2009.

The ECS Regulation (EC no.2157/2001), adopted in 2001, gives existing companies the option of creating a European Company (Societas Europaea, SE) that can operate on a Europe-wide basis and be governed by Community law directly applicable in all EU member states (rather than national law).
