EU: Council adopts recast European Works Councils Directive
The Council of the EU adopted on 23 April 2009 the "recast" Directive on European Works Councils (EWCs), which strengthens their role.
In December 2008, the Council and the European Parliament reached agreement on an EU Directive that will repeal and replace the 1994 EWCs Directive (94/45/EC) and its amending Directives (97/74/EC and 2006/109/EC).
