EU Council: Conciliated text on working time in road transport
On 17 December
2001, a Council/European Parliament conciliation committee issued a compromise
text on the regulation of working time in the road transport
sector.
The proposal to extend some of the protection afforded by the 1993 working time Directive to the road transport sector has been very controversial, with disagreement focused on whether or not to include self-employed drivers within the scope of the Directive.
