EU: Council discusses revision of Pregnant Workers Directive

Meeting in March 2009, EU employment ministers held a first debate on the European Commission's proposals to amend the 1992 Pregnant Workers Directive, and adopted a set of "key messages" on tackling the employment effects of the economic crisis.

On 9 March, the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council held its first meeting under the Czech EU Presidency, which runs from January to June 2009.
