EU Council: Draft Directives on non-EU migrant workers debated
On 24 and 25 July 2008, the Justice and Home Affairs Council debated draft Directives on access to the EU for highly qualified non-EU workers and on sanctions against employers of illegal immigrants.
In October 2007, the European Commission proposed a Directive on the conditions of entry and residence of non-EU nationals for the purposes of highly qualified employment.
