EU Council: European Council calls for progress on employment Directives
A European Council summit on 19-20 June 2008 called on the EU institutions to make progress on outstanding draft Directives on working time, temporary agency work and the employment of non-EU migrants.
Although the June European Council was dominated by other matters, notably the rejection of the Lisbon reform Treaty in the Irish referendum on 12 June, EU heads of state and government discussed and agreed on a number of points of relevance to employment and social policy.
