EU Council: Portuguese presidency sets out priorities
Portugal took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union for a six-month term on 1 July 2007. The key issue on its agenda is convening and overseeing the Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) that is to draw up a new "reform treaty" on the basis of the mandate agreed by the European Council summit on 21 and 22 June.
