EU Council: Regulation clarifies responsibilities for industrial action damages
An EU Regulation on cross-border "non-contractual obligations" adopted in July 2007 provides that the law governing the liability for damages caused by industrial action is that of the country where the action occurs.
Regulation (EC) No.864/2007 (PDF format, 95K) (on the EUR-Lex website) of the European parliament and Council of 11 July 2007 on the law applicable to non-contractual obligations (known as the Rome II Regulation) seeks to provide legal clarity where there is a conflict of laws (relating to non-contractual obligations) between EU member states in many civil and commercial matters.
