EU Council: Social council reaches agreement on key draft Directives

At a meeting of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council on 9-10 June 2008, ministers reached agreement regarding draft Directives on temporary agency workers and working time.

The council, held under the Slovenian EU presidency (which ended at the start of July), achieved a notable breakthrough; reaching political agreement on common positions on the two most high-profile and controversial EU employment law proposals of the past few years.
