EU: Employers oppose Directive on second-hand smoke at work

Responding to a European Commission consultation exercise, in February 2009, BusinessEurope - the EU-level organisation representing private sector employers - rejected the idea of new EU legislation to protect workers from exposure to environmental tobacco smoke in the workplace.

On 19 December 2008, the European Commission launched consultations of EU-level trade union and employers’ organisations about possible action to protect workers from the risks related to exposure to environmental tobacco smoke in the workplace.
