EU: European Parliament delays vote on Pregnant Workers Directive revision

The European Parliament failed to give the draft Directive amending the Pregnant Workers Directive a scheduled first reading in May 2009, due to divisions over whether the proposal should be strengthened.

In October 2008, the European Commission issued a proposal for a Directive amending Directive 92/85/EEC on the health and safety of pregnant workers and workers who have recently given birth or are breastfeeding.
