EU: Social partners agree statement on new EU jobs strategy

European-level trade union and employers' organisations agreed a joint statement in June 2010 on the EU's new 10-year employment and growth strategy, Europe 2020, calling for action to create more and "better" jobs while achieving higher productivity.

The Europe 2020 strategy, which was due to be formally approved at a European Council summit on 17 June, focuses on knowledge and innovation, a more sustainable economy, high employment and social inclusion.
