EU social partners: Managers seek greater representation on European Works Councils

In September 2008, the European Confederation of Executives and Managerial Staff (CEC) called for the current proposal for a revised Directive on European Works Councils (EWCs) to be amended to allow for greater representation of managerial staff on EWCs.

In July 2008, the European Commission issued a draft Directive repealing and replacing the 1994 European Works Council Directive (94/45/EC), which is now under consideration by the council of ministers and the European parliament.
