EU social partners: Partners agree 'joint advice' on the revision of the European Works Councils Directive
On 29 August 2008, the central EU-level trade union and employers’ organisations signed a "joint advice" to the EU institutions, setting out their suggestions for amendments to the current proposal for a revised Directive on European Works Councils (EWCs).
In July 2008, the European Commission issued a draft Directive repealing and replacing the 1994 Directive (94/45/EC) on EWCs.
