European Council discusses labour law modernisation

A meeting of the employment, social policy, health and consumer affairs council was held, under the Finnish presidency, on 30 November and 1 December 2006.

On the employment and social affairs front, the main business included a preliminary exchange of views on the green paper, entitled Modernising labour law to meet the challenges of the 21st century, issued by the European Commission in November (see European Union: Social policy state of play ).
