European parliament: Amendments proposed to draft Directive on working time
The European parliament voted on 17 December 2008 to amend the draft Directive revising the 1993 Directive on working time, rejecting a compromise text agreed by the Council of the EU.
In June 2008, after lengthy and difficult negotiations, EU employment ministers agreed a common position on the draft Directive revising the Directive concerning certain aspects of the organisation of working time (originally adopted in 1993 and now consolidated in the Working Time Directive (2003/88/EC)).
