European parliament: MEPs call for amendments to key proposals
The European parliament’s employment and social affairs committee recommended amendments to draft Directives on working time and European Works Councils in November 2008 which, if approved by the parliament, are likely to delay the Directives’ adoption.
In June 2008, after nearly four years of difficult debate, EU employment ministers reached a deal on the draft Directive revising the Directive concerning certain aspects of the organisation of working time (originally adopted in 1993 and now consolidated in Directive 2003/88/EC).
