European parliament: MEPs call for employee rights in private equity takeovers
At its plenary session between 22 and 25 September 2008, the European parliament called on the European Commission to propose EU legislation to improve the regulation of hedge funds and private equity investors, including greater protection of employees’ rights.
Using its right to request that the commission draw up legislation on a particular subject, the European parliament adopted two resolutions in September calling for a series of legislative measures related to hedge funds and private equity, and the transparency of institutional investors.
