European parliament: Vote leads to adoption of 'recast' EWCs Directive
The European parliament approved at first reading the draft EU Directive “recasting” the 1994 Directive on European Works Councils (EWCs) on 16 December 2008, enabling its adoption following endorsement from the Council of the EU.
The draft “recast” Directive repealing and replacing the European Works Councils Directive (94/45/EC) was proposed by the European Commission in July 2008.
