European Union: Revision of working time Directive deadlocked

Efforts by the Finnish EU presidency failed to broker a compromise on the draft Directive revising the 1993 Directive on the organisation of working time at a special social affairs council meeting on 7 November. Member states were unable to agree on the fate of the opt-out from the maximum 48 hour working week.
