Finland: Closer supervision of fixed-term contracts proposed

In early 2007, a tripartite working group tasked by the government with examining the issue of fixed-term contracts submitted its report to the minister of labour, Tarja Filatov. Current legislation allows such contracts if they can be justified by the employer on various grounds, but a failure by the employer to provide proper justification does not attract any penalty.
