Firefighters and other uniformed fire service employees received a 2.7% pay increase from 1 July 2006, under an award agreed by the National Joint Council (NJC) for local authority fire and rescue services.
The increase was calculated using a formula set out in the Fire Service Pay and Conditions Agreement 2003, which marked the end of the long-running pay dispute during 2002-03.
