France: Continental employees back cost savings plan

In September 2010, employees at three French plants owned by the Germany-based tyre and auto parts manufacturer Continental voted narrowly in favour of a plan that will maintain jobs in exchange for cuts in labour costs.

The 2,500 employees at the Continental Automotive France factories at Toulouse, Foix and Boussens (all in the Midi-Pyrénées region) were asked by management to vote in a ballot on a proposed cost-savings plan.
