France: Finnish firm held responsible for French subsidiary's redundancy costs
On 12 September 2007, around 350 former employees of the French subsidiary of Aspocomp, a Finland-based electronics multinational, received a total payout of €11 million in respect of losing their jobs in 2002. The payment followed a French court ruling, based on EU law, that the Finnish parent company was responsible for the commitments of its French subsidiary after it went into liquidation.
