France: Government assesses company action on workplace stress
According to figures published in February 2010, some 300 large French companies have so far negotiated an agreement on combating stress at work, or drawn up an action plan on the subject, following a Government initiative launched in October 2009.
In response to a major controversy over workplace stress, prompted by a wave of suicides by employees, in October 2009 the Government launched an emergency plan on preventing "psychosocial risks".
