France: Government consults on employment reforms

The prime minister, François Fillon, has launched consultations with trade unions and employers' organisations on a series of employment and social reforms planned by the new president, Nicolas Sarkozy. These include proposals to cut tax and social security contributions on overtime pay and to guarantee minimum services during public transport strikes.
