France: Government details employment and income measures

At a conference on "employment and income" held at the Centre for Strategic Analysis (CAS) in Paris in December 2006, the prime minister, Dominique de Villepin, set out two of the government's main priorities: to increase the level of employment and to improve people's everyday life. He outlined a series of measures designed "to help those sections of the population that have not benefited from the general fall in unemployment".
