France: Labour market modernisation talks get under way

On 4 July 2007, France's main trade union confederations and employers' organisations held a meeting to set the agenda for national negotiations on labour market modernisation, which they hope may lead to an agreement by early 2008 at the latest.

The social partners had set up three working groups in October 2006 to discuss the unemployment insurance system, employment contracts and career development.
