France: Labour market modernisation talks launched

In September 2007, France’s main trade union confederations and employers’ organisations started negotiations on labour market modernisation, focusing initially on probationary periods, contracts to perform specific projects and ways of making open-ended employment contracts more flexible.

At a “summit” held on 19 June 2007, the social partners decided to launch national cross-industry negotiations on the “modernisation of the labour market”.
