France: Labour market opened to new EU member states
From 1 July 2008, France has lifted restrictions on the entry of workers from eight new EU member states in central and Eastern Europe.
When the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia joined the EU in 2004, the 15 existing member states were allowed to impose transitional restrictions on the free movement of workers from these countries for up to seven years.
