France: Progress on pension reform
In mid-June, the government finally managed to quell the opposition to its planned pension reform, although without achieving the hoped-for consensus.
The government's proposed pension reform had led to more than 130 days of demonstrations and strikes by the last day of action on 19 June 2003.
